After a successful veterinary nurse career, Karen went into a sales role for a veterinary pharmaceutical company called Ciba Geigy (latterly called Novartis) selling to veterinary practices in the South East.
She was the first woman they had ever employed and was told by her then boss “if you mess this up we won’t employ any more women”.
Needless to say this was just the challenge that Karen relished, and after becoming the no 1 sales person in the company after 3 years she was promoted to National Sales Manager and had a team then of 4 women and 2 men. After 16 years in various blue chip sales management and marketing roles in various companies Karen then employed the best person for the job.
As part of her role she became one of the international trainers for the blue chip company Novartis: everybody in the company internationally was trained in sales communication.
Having moved to another blue chip company, Karen had a team of 16 sales people and managed, led, and trained and coached them all individually.
Training is a passion that is deep within her, and after many successful corporate years in sales and marketing roles Karen set up Vital Spark Training Consultants.

Workshops vary in length, from half-day refresher sessions at sales meetings to full days, or they can become part of an overall induction training programme where we work with you to develop workshops for the induction of newly appointed sales people, right through to experienced sales individuals and teams.
We like to keep the groups to a manageable number to allow enough one-on-one time for the trainer and also ensure that everybody has some personal input.
Each participant leaves with a certificate of attendance for CPD purposes, plus a workbook of their own that they use to take notes, do exercises and for follow-up reading.
Role-play is used where appropriate and time allows.
